Aidan PenderFrom December 2003 until July 2014, Aidan has worked with Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority. He was a member of the organisation’s small top management team where he serves as Director–Strategic Development. He also served as Company Secretary. Prior to joining Fáilte Ireland, he worked for twenty years as a management consultant and trainer with the Institute of Public Administration (Dublin), PA Consulting Group (London), and Management Centre Europe (Brussels).

At PA Consulting Group, he served as Managing Consultant in the firm’s Government Practice and led project teams on assignments in Ireland & the UK. Sample projects included Assignment Leader role in Review of Strategic Management Initiative (Dept of the Taoiseach), Review of ICT Function (Revenue Commissioners), Model Housing Strategy (Dept of the Environment), Centre for International Finance (University of Exeter), Review of Further Education & Training (Highlands & Islands Development Authority), Inverness.

At the Institute of Public Administration, Aidan served as Executive Director responsible for teams delivering consultancy and training services in Finance, HR, IT, and Management Development. Prior to this role, he led the International Project Office at the Institute.

Aidan possesses broad skills (developed and rooted in practice) in finance, business strategy, economics, and corporate governance.

He also has strong communication skills – both written and oral. The nature of his working life has been such that strong communication skills were always an essential part of his skill-set requirements. He at the forefront of leading-edge management practices through extensive networking, consultancy and research.

He holds a BA degree from UCD, together with master’s degrees in Public Administration and in Economic Science from the same institution.
