Lorraine HigginsMs. Lorraine Higgins is a practising barrister and a former Senator who served in the 24th Seanad following her nomination by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

From Galway, she is a graduate of NUIG and the King’s Inns. As Seanad spokesperson on Reform and Foreign Affairs and Trade one of Lorraine’s key achievements was the publication of a Cyberbullying bill – a bill that aims to protect people using social media.

She has lectured in law for Griffith College in the past, has a broad experience delivering lectures on many issues and previously collaborated with an academic on an international journal article on the topic of judicial review. Furthermore, she was named as one of the Top 50 People to Watch in 2016 by the Irish Times. And a survey carried out by a PR company in 2014 listed her as the second most influential Senator in terms of shaping and informing political debate and policy in Ireland.
