Professor Andrew Deegan

Andrew DeeganProfessor Deegan was formerly Professor of Management Information Systems at UCD from 2000 until 2010. He also held other roles in UCD including: MIS Head of Department, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Interim Dean, UCD Business School, Academic Programme Director for the largest postgraduate business programmes, Irish Director, EuroMBA programme and Director, UCD Business School Distance Programmes in Asia. He also served as Chair/member of a number of prestigious and high-level UCD Boards and Committees in both the Smurfit and Quinn Schools. Prof. Deegan is a former Moderator, Institute of Chartered Accountants Examinations and has extensive experience of management of, and participation in, Executive Education and UCD overseas programmes including bachelor’s and master’s programmes in Singapore, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.

Prof. Deegan’s research interests include Business Value of IT, EBusiness Strategy and Business Models, IT-driven Change Management, IT Project Risk Management.

His professional experience includes positions as Systems Analyst, An Bord Bainne (Irish Dairy Board), IT Consultant, KPMG, Dublin, Senior IT Consultant, Deloitte Consulting, Ireland, and Co-Founder and Managing Director, University Software Systems.

His spare-time interests include sailing, golf, reading, sport and light classical music.
