What is the course about?
Our Certificate in Corporate Governance, Ethics and Management is developed by leading industry experts and academic practitioners in the corporate governance arena. The course is created to give participants a full understanding of the application of corporate governance across different company formations and cover the compliance requirements under Irish corporate law. It is designed for people who are not themselves corporate governance specialists but need to know the roles and responsibilities of company directors and other functions of corporate governance. Ethics is also covered in this certificate, giving an overview of themes applicable in corporate life. The Certificate in Corporate Governance, Ethics and Management will, therefore, suit those who have been recently made company directors of limited companies, charities, boards of management and fulfil requirements for induction training for newly appointed company directors.
Who Should Attend?
The Certificate in Governance, Ethics & Management is suited to, CEO’s, board members, senior level managers and newly appointed directors. For example: fulfilling Continuous Professional Development for respective accounting bodies (subject to their verification and requirements) and/or induction training for newly appointed or reappointed directors of companies, charities or voluntary bodies.There are no academic prerequisites for this course.
This 8 week professional development course will be delivered live online via Zoom one evening per week for 2.5 hours from 5.00-7.30pm starting on Thursday 25th June 2020.

This course is provided by Independent College Dublin and is primarily based on modules delivered in the BA Accounting and Finance degree course that is approved by QQI. This new certificate course is seeking formal recognition from a number of accounting and corporate governance bodies.
Learn from our Leading Practitioner
Dr Richard Brophy is our course lecturer on Corporate Governance, Ethics and Management. Having worked in financial services for over 15 years and held a directorship of a successful brokerage, Richard completed his doctorate in the regulation and marketing of financial services. His research has been published in academic journals in Ireland, UK and internationally, Richard won the Highly Commended Award for publishing excellence from Emerald Journals UK. Besides research, Richard has lectured in several institutions in Ireland, Vietnam and is currently an associate lecturer for an Austrian University on management courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Richard also was Programme Leader for the BAAF course for Independent College Dublin and participated in the programmatic review in redeveloping the course for corporate governance requirements.
Having experience with corporate governance and administration in the private, public sector and charitable areas, Richard delivers a unique and informed approach to corporate governance that brings a practical perspective to the corporate governance requirements.
