Who Should Attend?
This Certificate in Introduction to Corporate Finance will suit students looking to understand the concepts and procedures of corporate decision making using relevant models and techniques, particularly MS Excel.
This 8 week professional development course will be delivered live online via Zoom one evening per week for 2.5 hours from 6.30-9.00pm starting the week of 22nd June 2020.
Over the 8 classes the course will cover:
Introduction to Corporate Finance – concepts, techniques and calculations
Introduction to financial modelling using MS Excel
Extending financial modelling to management reporting and decision making using Excel.
Structure and sources of finance
Investment decision making part 1 – Simple techniques using Excel
Investment decision making part 2 – Time value of money using Excel
Investment decision making part 3 – Rationale and scenario building using Excel
The cost of capital – how a discount rate is arrived at and what is the optimum mix of debt/equity
2 x Numerically based Continuous Assessment projects set during the 8 weeks.
This course is provided by Independent College Dublin and is primarily based on modules delivered in the BA Accounting and Finance degree course that is approved by QQI.
