This Modular Skills Provision course is funded by the Government of Ireland as part of the July Stimulus Package 2020. This Higher Education initiative is part of the Government’s response to the global pandemic and is designed to help people enhance their employability, upskill and re-skill in the current climate.
Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD said, ““These courses will enable people across the country to embark on new pathways, or refresh or re-skill in their employment. We must ensure a jobs led recovery by putting upskilling and SME supports centre stage.”
Eligible: Unemployed / Returners / Employed / Previously Self-Employed / Recent Graduates.
This course if fully funded if you are Unemployed, PUP Receiver, Returner to the workforce.
+ If you are currently employed, 90% of the course is funded. A 10% fee payment is required.
+ Other requirements in respect of modular skills courses will align with Springboard+ eligibility criteria.

Please note in the case of Modular Skills Courses – applicants can register on multiple modular courses as long as they do not exceed 30 credits across all institutions.
What is the Course about?
The Core Business Functions course provides the theory, knowledge, research and practical skills to those who wish to develop their knowledge in and around the areas of business, management, IT, accounting and finance, and marketing. The College recognises that in the current economic environment it is imperative that upon graduation of this level 8 course, learners should have a significant competitive advantage in terms of securing a rewarding and challenging employment. Graduates of the course will have developed general transferable skills which are invaluable.
The modules contained within this course are constituent modules within semester 1 of our QQI approved BA (Honours) in Business Studies course therefore, on successful completion, learners will be exempted from these modules on the level 8 programme and be able to go on and gain a full honours degree should they so wish. Each module is also stand-alone so that participants can acquire skills and put them into practice immediately in the workplace.
There are no academic entry requirements required for this course.

This course will be delivered the week of 25th January 2021, streamed live online and recorded via Zoom for 180 hours of tuition over 24 weeks.
